Indian wear was always premium — it's the second-largest apparel category in the world after Western clothing, and it has been around for 5,000 years.
But somewhere along the way, the prices dropped. The fabrics got worse. The artisans — many of them 5th-generation weavers — left the villages for BPO jobs.
Kavya exists to reverse that. We work with 47 named artisans across India. We pay them above-market. We publish their names. We let them set their prices. We don't drop-ship from Surat.
The result is what you're looking at: pieces that are hand-made, by people who know what they're doing, in materials that hold up.

Eight years of Kavya
- 2017
Kavya opens
Founder Priya Iyer, ex-Sabyasachi, opens Kavya in a 22 m² shop on Linking Road, Mumbai.
- 2019
First artisan visit
We fly to Varanasi to meet the weavers. We work with 4 of them by year-end.
- 2021
Material Passport launches
Every Kavya piece ships with a Material Passport. Public trace from fiber to your door.
- 2023
Kavya Club launches
Our loyalty program. Silver, Gold, Platinum tiers based on annual spend.

Festive Edit goes national
We now ship to 12,000 pin codes across India. Same-day delivery in 8 metros.
