Northwall Outfitters started on the floor of an old Portland shipyard in 1962. Two brothers, three sewing machines, and a thousand feet of canvas. Sixty-three years later, we're still cutting jackets by hand in the same neighborhood. We're still making them the same way.
What we believe

Repair, don't replace
Lifetime repairs are written into every receipt. We re-stitch, re-wax, re-sole — free, for as long as you own it.
Materials first
British Millerain waxed cotton, Goodyear-welted boots, vegetable-tanned leather. Spec'd once, kept for decades.
Made to be passed down
We make things that get better with age. The 1962 Ridgeline is still in service. So is its warranty.

1962
Floor of an old Portland shipyard
Two brothers, three sewing machines, and a thousand feet of canvas. We made oilskin slickers for the local fishermen.
1971
The Ridgeline pattern
An outfitter in Bend asked us to make a jacket that could take a beating and look right at a dinner. We cut the first one by hand.
1989
Lifetime repairs, in writing
Every jacket since has carried the same guarantee: we'll re-stitch, re-wax, re-sole — for as long as you own it.
2003
British Millerain partnership
We formalized our relationship with the British wax-cotton mill. We've been working with their 10oz canvas ever since.
2014
Portland flagship
Opened our first store — 1029 NW Glisan — in the same neighborhood where we started.
2021
Recycled insulation across the line
Switched to 100% recycled down and 100% recycled polyester fleece, with no spec changes.
2025
Stores three and four
San Francisco and Denver. Same standard. Same hands on the floor.
