The crafts
Six techniques we buy directly, so they survive.
Every piece in this shop is made with one of these. We name the cluster on the product page because a craft without a place attached is just a word on a label.
“My grandfather wove for a shop that never told anyone his name. Kavya prints it on the tag.”
Varanasi
Banarasi zari
Real gold and silver thread woven into silk on a pit loom. Six months a saree.
Lucknow
Chikankari
White-on-white hand embroidery, thirty-odd stitches, all of it by eye.
Kutch
Bandhani
Thousands of points tied by hand before dyeing. Untie it and the pattern appears.
Bagru
Hand block print
Carved teak blocks and natural dye, printed one repeat at a time.
Jaipur
Gota patti
Flattened metallic ribbon applied by hand into borders and motifs.
Jaipur
Kundan
Uncut stones set into gold foil — the technique predates prongs by centuries.

Since 2017
We buy from the loom, not the market.
Named clusters
Nine weaving clusters, visited twice a year, paid before dispatch rather than after sale.
No middleman
The margin that used to sit with the trader sits with the weaver and with you instead.
Repair, not replace
Send a Kavya piece back at any point and we will repair the weave rather than sell you another.
From our customers
Worn at weddings, kept for longer.
“I ordered the Banarasi for my sister's wedding expecting to be disappointed by the photos. It is heavier and better than the photos. The zari is real.”
