An edition closes and the plate is destroyed
Plate is four people and three presses in a yard in Rotterdam. Everything here is printed by hand in a fixed run — 30 sheets, 50, at most 150 — and when the run closes the screens are reclaimed and the type is distributed. Nothing is reprinted, ever, and no edition is quietly extended because it sold well.

The count
What a hand-pulled run costs
Four numbers that explain the prices on this page, none of them rounded.
“A screenprint is not a poster with a better price. It is one colour, one pull, one day of drying, repeated until the picture exists.”
1
Colour per pass
Each colour is a separate screen, a separate pull and a full day of drying before the next one goes down.
30-150
Sheets in a run
The whole edition. Not a first printing, not a batch — after this there is no more of it.

Heaviest stock we print
Handmade cotton for the letterpress work. It takes an impression you can read with your fingers.

Reprints, ever
Screens are reclaimed and type is distributed when a run closes. An edition that could be reprinted is not an edition.

The press
One colour, one day, repeated
Ink is mixed, not bought
Every colour is mixed by hand against a drawdown on the actual stock, because the same ink reads differently on 170gsm uncoated than it does on 300gsm cotton.
One pull, then it waits
A four-colour print is four days minimum. Rushing the drying is how you get a print that offsets onto the sheet above it in the stack.
The rejects are destroyed
Roughly one sheet in six does not make the edition — misregistered, a hair in the screen, a flooded corner. Those are torn up rather than sold as seconds.
Collected
From people who hung it
“Ordered the sample set first, which is the only reason I went for the 640gsm. Feeling the difference between that and 300 is not something a photograph was ever going to do.”

“The product page said the blind deboss photographs badly. It does. It also looks better on my wall than anything else I own, so the warning was worth more than a better photo would have been.”

“Tube arrived crushed at one end by the courier. They shipped a replacement sheet from the same edition the next day and asked for nothing back.”

Editions, framing, shipping and VAT
If it is not answered here, message the studio — one of the four of us replies, usually the same day.
No. When a run closes the screens are reclaimed and the metal type is distributed, so the plates that made it no longer exist. If a piece is listed as closed it is closed permanently, and we will not print a 'second edition' of it in a different colour either.
Every sheet is signed in pencil, lower right, and numbered as x/50 lower left, plus a blind chop mark. Riso editions are numbered but not signed — they are printed in larger runs and pretending otherwise would devalue the signature on the screenprints.
Unframed prints ship rolled in a rigid tube with tracking, 2-4 days across the EU. Framed prints ship flat in a crate, 7-10 days, EU only — glass and long-distance couriers do not mix and we would rather not sell you the disappointment.
Photograph the packaging and send it to us. If the edition still has sheets we replace it from the run; if it has closed we refund in full. Either way we do not ask for the damaged sheet back.
EU orders include VAT in the price shown. UK and Switzerland orders have duties and import VAT paid at checkout, so nothing is collected on your doorstep. We do not ship outside Europe at the moment.
For editions of 30 or more, yes — usually with a three to four month lead time depending on the press. Below 30 sheets a hand-pulled run costs more per sheet than most people expect, and we will tell you that before you commit rather than after.
