- Katan silk · zari
- Origin
- Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh
The piece
Kadhwa brocade, which means each motif is woven in as its own weft rather than floated across the back and cut. It costs three weeks more and it is the reason the reverse of this sari is worth looking at.
Cloth & weave
- · 100% katan silk
- · Kadhwa woven motifs
- · 580 grams
- · 6.3m with an unstitched blouse piece
Where it was made
- · Woven by a weaver family we buy from directly, named on the label
- · Cut and finished in our Bengaluru studio
- · 8 to 18 weeks on the loom before it reaches us
Care
- · Dry clean only for silk; cold hand wash for cotton and khadi
- · Dry in shade — direct sun flattens a natural dye within a season
- · Store folded with the zari inward, never on a hanger
- · First wash will bleed a little on hand-dyed cloth. That is the dye, not a fault
