- Gajji silk · natural dye
- Origin
- Kutch, Gujarat
The piece
Roughly nine thousand knots tied by hand before it ever sees dye, which is why no two panels of it line up perfectly. The irregularity is the proof of the method, not a defect in it.
Cloth & weave
- · Gajji silk
- · ~9,000 hand-tied knots
- · 410 grams
- · 5.5m, no blouse piece
Where it was made
- · Woven by a weaver family we buy from directly, named on the label
- · Cut and finished in our Bengaluru studio
- · 8 to 18 weeks on the loom before it reaches us
Care
- · Dry clean only for silk; cold hand wash for cotton and khadi
- · Dry in shade — direct sun flattens a natural dye within a season
- · Store folded with the zari inward, never on a hanger
- · First wash will bleed a little on hand-dyed cloth. That is the dye, not a fault
